Owner New Half Moon Tanago Hooks

    for microfishing

If you live in North America and want to get into microfishing, than Tenkarabum.com will be your best friend. They have excellent customer service, and vary fair prices. If you want to catch some of the more micro species than you need tanago hooks. Tenkarabum is the most reliable place to buy them in North America.

These hooks are very small. Do yourself a favour and buy the Owner "New Half Moon" presnelled Tanago hooks. I also recommend buying the tippet connectors from Tenkarabum. The tippet connectors make connecting your main line to your presnelled hooks a cinch, and it will save you a lot of frustration creekside.

    Gamakatsu Baitholder Hooks

    for multi-species angling

Gamakatsu Baitholder Hooks are my preferred hook for other multi-species angling. Size 8 is my go to size since I find they can handle both large and small species. They are sharp and enable more hook-ups.

    Favourite Spinners

    Johnson Min-O-Spin

The 1/24 oz Johnson Min-O-Spin has become one of my go to spinners, especially when fishing new water. Besides being able to catch tiny creek chub and sunfish, I have also caught large Yellow and White Perch using it. It is also quite durable.

    Panther Martin Spinners

Panther Martin also makes productive spinners. This tiny spinner is also one of my favourite lures, especially for tiny creek fishing. This beautiful Rainbow Trout Parr was caught with it in a couple of inches of water. I do find the Panther Martin spinners to be a little on the fragile side. If you get a couple of larger fish, or snags, you may find the hooks, or body out of line.

    Artificial Bait

    Berkley Powerbait

While I prefer to use live bait when available, I always have a jar of Berkley Powerbait in my car just in case I want to do some last minute fishing microfishing. I have caught many species (such as the tiny Rudd to the left), by simply placing a very small ball of the bait over a tiny hook. The only disadvantages are - you constantly need to rebait the hook, and it stinks (I've warned you).
